Philip was born on July 3, 1991 in Washington, MO, where he has been a lifelong resident. He attended St. Francis Borgia and graduated high school in 2010. He first got involved with creating his own music back in 2009, when he started writing songs and recorded himself from the basement of his home. He released multiple songs under various stages names, until 2013 when he permanently began recording under the name “Philly Phil.” Philip continued his journey for a degree in higher education when he enrolled at Vatterott College-Extreme Institute in August 2013; choosing Recording, Engineering, Production with Music Management as his area of study. Initially he wanted to enhance his artistry but he quickly found a passion for engineering and mixing, which has translated into his career path.
Philip graduated EI in December 2017, maintaining both Perfect Attendance and a 4.0 GPA for the entire duration of his enrollment. Since attending EI, he has released two commercially available albums, the most recent, “L.O.L.T.” being released in December 2017, and distributed through Sauce Records. He continues to write new music and has become a mainstay in the local showcase scene, competing and performing at venues across the city. In addition, he also works as a freelance engineer and has contributed his services to some of the biggest up and coming artists in St. Louis. Upon graduation, he plans to utilize all the knowledge, resources and connections he made at the Extreme Institute to help other up and coming artists as well as to become music’s next big superstar. In June 2018 he released his first official mixtape “Extremely Institutionalized” produced by Grammy nominated producer Wyshmaster Beats.
